Rings on the ground = the 32 scan lines. Dark wedges behind objects = occlusion shadows: the sensor cannot
see behind things. Click the ground to move the sensor — watch the
shadows move with it.
Now untick "show the world": this point cloud is ALL the car
knows. No surfaces, no objects — just points.
Spin faster and the rings get sparser: the laser fires at a fixed
rate, so a quicker revolution contains fewer pulses. Real sensors spin
at 10–20 Hz and fire ~100× faster than this demo.
